Xbox One engineer explains the purpose of DRM

Hey guys!

Someone claiming to be an Xbox engineer took to Pastebin recently to try to clear up some misunderstandings regarding the Xbox One. Read the post here at Pastebin.

Quite interesting and I personally like the sound of it. I certainly would not mind getting my games cheaper and not having to use the discs. I guess I am used to it from using Steam all the time.

Well I hope that what he is saying is true. Time will tell!

E3 2013

Hey guys!

E3 is going strong right now as I am sure most of you know. One thing that became clear yesterday is that Microsoft seems to want to distance themselves from the hardcore gamer community and I think it is safe to say that they succeeded with that yesterday.

Sony on the other hand were quick to capitalize on Microsofts self destructive ways by announcing that the PS4 will indeed support used games and will not require online check-in. Say whaaat.

You can follow all the gaming drama on various websites around the net or check the E3 website.

Take care!

Message from Hell by Josh Mosqueira

Yo!

The new game director of Diablo 3 has made a post on the official Diablo 3 site. Check it out as he has some interesting points.

I have to ask though. Why are the Diablo 3 game directors always from Dawn of War? Seems strange to me.

Anyways, have a good one!

Current state of Diablo 3 patch 1.0.8

Yo!

I thought I would do a write up on Diablo 3 now that it has been out for over a year. As you may or may not know I have been playing D3 ever since it was released and I have like some of you been very very dissapointed with the game.

Maybe you have seen my rant video about Diablo 3 that I made during patch 1.0.6? If not then thats ok. It really isnt much more than bitter whining.

I do however feel that the points I made there were valid. And to some extent they still are valid. What are those points? Normally I would say go watch the video but it is almost 30 minutes long so I will spare you the pain.

My two major problems with Diablo 3 was that maps were not random due to the exits always being in the same place and that loot stat rolls are way to random. For example you could get a wand with STR and no INT. Or a bow with INT and no DEX. Or how about a level 63 item with 200 dps.

These two gamebreaking issues still exist to this day but Blizzard has added som stuff that I feel takes away from the pain of getting constant crap drops and the non-random maps.

I have started playing Diablo 3 again after quite a long break. The reasons for this are as follows:

1. Monster Power in public games. This allows you to use your preferred MP setting while playing in a public game. Now you can team up with other players in public games and actually be challenged while farming. It was way to easy without it and I feel that this was one of the main reasons that the maps became so boring after a while.

2. Filter for the type of run you want to make. You can now filter your public game search to different modes. If you just want to farm keywardens then you can select that. Very nice option in order to quickly find likeminded players.

3. Join any quest option. This option is very simple but it does have a profound effect on how fast you will be bored or not. Instead of just farming the same old place in any given act you can now click to join a public game currently in "any quest". It does provide some variety to your daily runs.

4. Monster density has been increased. More monsters in MP1+ means more action. Great.

5. Book of Cain. You can now identify all the items you have in your inventory with just one click at the book of Cain which believe it or not, makes me not feel too bad about always getting crap drops. Atleast now I don't have to stand there and identify them one by one just to sell them.

6. Notification whenever someone in your group engages a treasure pugmy or an elite pack. Never miss out on the loot. Thanks.

All of the above things combined actually make the game as a whole a ton better than it was just a couple of months ago and this makes me happy. I do love the franchise after all and I am glad I am once again feeling compelled to play it.

That being said there are a few points that need to be adressed before I finally can call it the "perfect" Arpg.

Loot needs to be adressed.

1. Secondary stats on items. A bow for example should not be able to have INT. What is the point of including these stats on an item when they are practically useless on the specific item? Only a DH use the bow and no DH will want a bow with INT over DEX.

2. Damage values. A level 63 item for example should not be able to roll with a damage value of 300 DPS. Every 10 item levels or so should have parameters within which it can roll a damage value. 1-10 could be 1-20 dps and ilvl 63 should be from 1000 dps to ???. Just as an example. You get the point.

3. New items. We need more and new items. Not really a big deal but I just thought I would throw it in there. The new archon armor craftables are a great addition to the game.

Overall I think drop rates are fine and really should not be increased anymore. Good and even great loot should be hard to get. I just wish that when you get an ilvl 63 item you would not have to throw it away because it has shitty dps or stats that are completely out of place.

The auction house.

What can we do about this? Or even so what can Blizzard do about this. I really do not know. The prices are so inflated at the moment it is absolutely ridiculous. I try to stay away from there as much as possible.

I have never bought an item for real money and probably never will. And the way prices are now on the AH I probably never will make any good gold from there either. I did sell a witching hour belt for 8 million gold the other day though. That was nice I guess. For the guy that bought it. ;)

Anyways, the point of all this is that I am back to playing D3 again and there will be some videos in the future where I talk about farming spots, PVP, items and abilities.

Until next time!
